How do you reset?

Today my friend took my hand and led me to a secret place. Hidden deep in the forest, immersed in flora and fauna. Silence, for a few moments, until the urgent, rushing sound of the free falling water, cascading from its natural peaks high above. The mountains were ready to cleanse me. My dear friend coaxed me to immerse myself in the freezing, but refreshing, mountain water.

As I stood at the water's edge, the sunlight danced on the surface, creating a shimmering pathway inviting me in. I hesitated, feeling the freezing water against my skin, but my friend's encouraging smile pushed me forward. The moment I submerged, a rush of exhilaration swept over me, and I could feel the weight of my worries dissolve into the refreshing depths. It was not just about the water; it was about embracing the unknown and finding joy in the unexpected.

Secret places to Reset in Fivizzano
Take a step out of your comfort zone

What happened? Each of my five senses took time out, they froze for just a few, but, a significant few seconds.

  • I smelt nature - I took the time to think of nothing else, but just to smell nature. The foliage, the mountain air, the abundance of aromas from the wild alpine flowers.

  • I touched nature - Soft, cold stones, gently massaging the bottom of my feet, the fresh soothing current of the water, the array of colourful fish swimming around me in my stillness and the unknown abundance of wild life that let me share their hidden space.

  • I heard nature - The rapid water falling in the distance, running towards me, refreshing the birds that were diving in to take sips, whilst the buzzing of the unknown creatures made it a pleasure to meet and to share this space.

  • I tasted nature - The untouched and unspoilt air, the freshness of the mountain water and the warmth of my slow, deliberate, deep breathes.

  • I saw nature- In its stripped bare, stillness. Calm, tranquil, happy, content and most of all peaceful.

By submerging myself, I had taken a few not so easy steps, out of my personal comfort zone -

  1. Submerging myself into freezing cold water, is not my idea of fun! But, I pushed myself to do it and felt glad that I did.

  2. Swimming amongst the fish, the blue bottles and many alien insects, whilst watching for snakes and wolves, for me, has never been at the top of my to do list. But, I pushed myself to do it anyway and I had so much fun.

This is what I did to RESET - What did I learn?

  • Nature is an amazing healer - It calmed my brain, reminded me that I am part of a rich complex web of life on Earth.

  • Time out is a most precious commodity - I realised time is finite, completely and irreversibly, impossible to store or recover. Therefore, I will make every moment count.

  • Spending time with like minded people who support you is a gift - Why? Because I can be myself without fear or judgement. I can feel safe in sharing my true feelings and worries.

  • Be willing to accept a helping hand from a true friend - It showed me that my friend and I share a mutual trust, which deepens our emotional connection. A true friend can be made at any time during your lifetime, they don't always have to be present in your life, but supporting each other in times of a RESET is a treasured moment.

If you feel like you need a reset, don't wait for someone to recognise it for you. Listen to your body, plan time out for yourself. Senta La Vita has been created for this purpose. Our new dates for 2027 will be published soon. Meanwhile, if you have a group who you recognise as needing time out and a RESET. Contact me - I would be delighted to curate a RESET for your team members.
